We meticulously design every class according to adult learning theories and methods. Our goal is to ensure you can remember and apply the new knowledge we teach you. Mountain Cloud guarantees that you, the learner, will achieve MEASURABLE PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT.
The topic of adult learning, or andragogy, is broad and deep - which is why doctoral programs exist on the topic. From the various approaches, we select the mainstream methods that work best for you, the healthcare professional.
At the core all mainstream adult learning theories is the work done by Dr. Malcolm Knowles, which embodies the following principles:
Self-Directed
Adults' self concept moves from one of being a dependent personality toward one of being a self-directed human being.
Adult Learner Experience
Adults accumulate a growing reservoir of experience that becomes an increasing resource for learning.
Readiness to Learn
Adults' readiness to learn becomes oriented increasingly to the developmental tasks of his/her roles.
Orientation to Learning
Adults' time perspective changes from one of postponed application of knowledge to immediacy of application. As a result his/her orientation toward learning shifts from one of subject- centeredness to one of problem centeredness.
Motivation to Learn
Adults' motivation to learn comes from within.
You will learn new knowledge that you can immediately apply on your job; you will use your existing knowledge of the topics to learn new knowledge through group discussions and working through scenarios.
For our instructional design, we draw heavily from Gagne’s Nine Principles, and Merrill's First Principles of Instruction. Both design models are modern, proven models of instructional design.
